She is a graduate of Jackson State University (2010), where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Speech & Dramatic Arts. She also earned a master’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi (2012).
Jessica began her career as a professional blogger in 2012 for her personal self-titled website. After growing her blog to over 8 Million views, she decided to slightly switch gears to reflect a new chapter in her life – motherhood.
She created The Mom Society after recognizing the lack of positive representation of minority mothers and mothers from different situational backgrounds such as single mothers, teenage mothers, non-wed mothers and so on in the media. With hopes of representing mothers worldwide, she decided to start with the moms who reside in her home state of Mississippi.
Jessica is a Southern girl at heart with roots in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was raised in Jackson, Mississippi and developed a strong passion for honoring mothers after becoming a mom in 2017 to her son, Marley. When she isn’t chasing Marley or cuddling her other son, Mason, she enjoys reading, creative writing and journaling.
